SAULAVY -SALT IS LIFE - Laurent-David Garnier

Solo Exhibition
Les Tours de la Rochelle & la chapelle des Dames Blanches, La Rochelle
Mondes Nouveaux (Ministère de la Culture, France) & Ville de La Rochelle
From June 3 to September 3, 2023
Exhibition Design (tour de la Chaîne) : Théo Demans
Graphic designers : H•Alix Sanyas  (conception) et Pascal Sémur (layout)

SAULAVY  is an imaginary and sensory map of the seashore, exploring the multiple metamorphosis of salt in the marches.
A nod to SELAVY and Marcel Duchamp’s dada / surrealistic sensibility, Laurent-David Garnier blurs the boundaries between the natural and the artificial to create a post-nature marine landscape, with salts, algae, pigments, glass, scent, gym and beach objects, sound and video. In this mytho-poetic environment, inspired by Charente’s coastal landscape, the artist reveals the hybridity of salt life while exposing humans' destructive desires for the seashore, the water and the beach.
